Polishing your furniture is a great way to extend the life of any piece. It is important to take extreme caution while doing this. You do not want to use a harsh chemical that will damage the finished coat on the piece of furniture.

There are many different ways to go about polishing your furniture. It really doesn’t matter as long as you take the time to make sure you are not doing more harm than good to the piece. It is important to use only recommend products so that you do not cause any form of discoloration to the wood.

I prefer to use this method of cleaning furniture around my home. I use a microfiber cloth along with any commercial brand of furniture polish. It will help extend the life of your furniture. The microfiber cloth will also help reduce any streaks that some polishes can leave behind. For the hard to reach places, such as furniture that is intricately designed, use a soft bristle tooth brush to reach these certain areas.

If you are having a hard time getting the piece clean, you may have a build up a residue from the previous polishing. You will want to take ½ cup of warm water and ½ cup of vinegar to take this extra residue off. You will need to have an extra cloth to dry the furniture immediately. Drying right away will keep you from having any water damage. This will give you a cleaner look when you are finished.
